chris moxey : photographs
I was born in Brighton on the Sussex coast and when I was 18 I moved to London. Working for a fine arts bookseller instilled in me a love of the arts in general so I studied Graphic Repro at London College of Printing and that's when I bought my first 'grown-up' camera, a Praktica MTL3. At home in my basement flat, I would develop and print my own black and white film, using a bin liner to block out the light from the door. I can still remember how excited I was by this process.
After a hiatus of some years I rediscovered my love of photography and I've enjoyed it ever since! For many years I was a street photographer, working mostly in the West End of London. Now I'm back at the Sussex coast where I'm re-discovering old haunts - and finding new inspiration.
I'm a member of London Independent Photography, where from 2012 to 2017 I was Assistant Editor of fLIP magazine. I'm also a member of the group THIRTEEN
In 2008, Tiffany Jones interviewed me for the Showcase section of London Independent Photography. In June 2017 I was featured as part of On the Edge of the Sidewalk, a series by Siri Thompson in which street photographers talk about their non-street work. I was interviewed by Didi S Gilson in 2016 for a Flickr street photography group - and Melissa O'Shaughnessy interviewed me for UP Photographers.
I have exhibited widely in group exhibitions and had two solo exhibitions.
